Beavers

Bagpacking 2011

As leaders we put a lot of time into running meetings and events for your kids throughout the year. Now is the time of the year we ask you to give four hours of your time to help your kids and save you money. Due to age restrictions we need a parent from each family to do some shifts backpacking in Dunnes Stores Douglas Court. This is our main fund-raiser each year and allows us to keep the fees low, purchase equipment, and subsidise trips so if we don’t get enough help that will all have to change. Please tell us below what shift you can do.

Welcome back

And indeed welcome to all our new beavers and leaders. We hope you enjoyed the summer and that you are ready for another jam packed year of Beavers. There are a number of changes for the year ahead, firstly is the Fees for the year are outlined below.

Fees for the year have increased by 10euro to cover the cost of new programme materials which will be given to your child. The charge for children in the different sections are as follows:                                                                                                                                    Beavers                                  €110

                                                                                Cubs                                       €150

                                                                                Scouts                                    €160

                                                                                Ventures                                €110

For families with more than one child in the Group there is a discount as follows – €10 reduction for the 2nd child, €20 reduction for the 3rd child and €30 reduction for the 4th child on the annual fee. This fee comprises your child’s individual insurance and registration with Scouting Ireland, insurance & utilities on the Scout Hall and your child’s weekly dues.

Cheques should be made payable to “55th Cork – Carrigaline Scouting Ireland”. Cash can only be accepted in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and the amount enclosed clearly marked on the outside. A receipt will be issued in both cases.

Fees can be paid at any Beavers meeting between now and the 28th of September, with the final time for payment the 30th of September at 7pm at the Scout Hall. You can split the fee for year into two equal amounts if you wish with the second amount due in January.

A parents and friends committee is to be set up this year. This committee is involved with the groups future development, being involved in fundraising and completing a number of special projects. Any parents interested in getting involved with the group are asked to attend a meeting on the 22nd of September at 8pm here in the hall.

The AGM for the Group will be held on Wednesday 7th of October in the Scout Hall at 8:00pm. We request that one parent from every family would attend. The AGM will take no longer than an half an hour and teas and coffee will follow after.

Attached is the programme from now till December all notes will also be on the website www.55cork.com.

21st September 2011 Note

21st September 2011

Dear Parents,

As you are aware beavers are asked to wear full uniform to each meeting and each activity this is available from the scout shop on Paul Street. The uniform consists of a blue jumper, and navy scout pants. The Carrigaline neckerchief (Blue and Yellow) is also to be worn. They are very helpful up in there and if you go in and ask for a Beaver Uniform they will help you out.

From the Programme you will be aware that a trip to Camden will take place this Saturday the 24th, each Beaver is to bring a packed lunch in a bag. Everyone should meet at 12.45 at the turning circle up by the fort in Cross haven.
