Scout Note – Welcome back – 17/9/10

Welcome back,

Hope you all had a good summer; it’s time to get started again!

Scouting is a uniformed organisation and as such we must ask each Scout to purchase a Scout uniform from the “The Scout Shop” in Mac Curtain Street in Cork.  It consists of a Scout shirt and pants with black shoes or hiking boots and navy/black socks, as well as a Carrigaline Kneckerchief (Blue and Yellow, half and half).  We would ask that every scout would wear this to every meeting/activity, unless otherwise specified.

As you may be aware a lot of work was done during the summer in the hall – the building of a new, state of the art, climbing wall, along with refurbishment of the meeting room, attic and main hall.  To raise funds for the group this year, we are holding a fundraiser ‘A Night at the Dogs’.  Tickets are €25 for a family and are available from the leaders.  All information about the night is attached.  It would be great if we could have the support of all parents and families of the group.

The AGM for the group will be held on Wednesday, October 6th, in the Scout Hall immediately after Beavers at 8:00pm.  We request that one parent from every family attends.  The AGM will take no longer than an hour and tea and coffee will follow after.

We have decided to keep the fees the same as last year.  The fees for children in the different sections are as follows;

Beavers                     €100

Cubs                           €140

Scouts                       €150

Ventures                  €100

For families with more than one child in the group, there is a discount on the annual fees as follows – €10 reduction for the 2nd child, €20 reduction for the 3rd child and €30 reduction for the 4th child.  This fee comprises your child’s individual insurance and registration with Scouting Ireland, insurance and utilities on the Scout Hall and your child’s weekly dues.  Cheques should be made payable to ‘55th Cork – Carrigaline Scouting Ireland’.  Cash can only be accepted in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and the amount enclosed clearly marked on the outside.  A receipt will be issued in both cases. Parents can pay these fees in two half’s one now and the other in Jan.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Scouts Back – 17/9/10

Scouts will be back again in the Hall 7-9pm Starting Friday 17th Sept 2010. no uniform.

Scout Camp 2010 – Swansea

Dear Parents

We will be meeting in the Ringaskiddy Ferry Port @ 7pm Saturday the 3rdth of July (This may change as ferry sailing time has not been released. We will be meeting 2hrs before it departs.). We will be traveling in full uniform ( Scout pants, Shirt, Neckerchief)

We will be staying in Silver Cross Scout Centre, Llangyfelach, Swansea, SA5 7LQ. http://www.silvercross.org.uk

Our return Ferry will be leaving Swansea @ 9am and arriving in Cork around 5pm (Check with ferryport) on Sunday the 11th of July.

All scouts gear needs to be packed in a rucksack as they need to walk on an off the ferry and part way to the campsite no suitcases or black bags. They will also need a small backpack packed with enough for the overnight trip as rucksacks will be in the hold during the journey

No phones or electronic devices (video games, ipod’s etc) are allowed.

If you need to contact us in an Emergency give me or Nicola a shout on 087 7766738 or 0861722037. I have included a basic gear list again but remember to use common sense. The scouting trail also has a camp gear list.

Yours in scouting
